Giving summaries for 3,580 US private foundations, compiled from public IRS Form 990-PF filings. One row per foundation: how many grants it made, how much it gave, and who received the most. Free, no signup, no attribution required.

Every figure is derived from a filer's own IRS Form 990-PF, the annual return private foundations file, which is public record. Nothing here is estimated, modelled, or inferred. Where a filing recorded no value, the field is left empty rather than filled with a guess.

Vintage

Foundations file on their own fiscal calendars, so the year differs by filer. Read tax_year per row rather than assuming a common year. Across the current corpus:

top_recipientstringRecipient receiving the most money in that filing. Blank where no recipient name was recorded.

What this dataset is not

The limits matter more than the headline number, so they are stated plainly:

Updates and reuse

The file regenerates daily from the same table that powers the profile pages, so it cannot drift from the site. Underlying 990-PF data is public record and free to reuse.
